Description:

MumsAid was founded early in 2012 because we believe passionately that the right support can make a difference, not just to mothers but also to the healthy emotional development of their babies.

Since its inception MumsAid has delivered a growing program of support during the perinatal period (pregnancy, birth and the early infant years) which has included psychological therapy, befriending support by trained peer volunteers, training for frontline staff in postnatal depression awareness, clinical supervision, and an active social media presence aimed at providing support and raising awareness.

Our services have been provided in a number of Children’s Centres in the Royal Borough of Greenwich and from September 2016 also in Lambeth.

Autumn 2015 saw the launch of a new service, YoungMumsAid funded by Children in Need to support teenage mothers and their babies.

With years of delivering specialised support to mothers experiencing emotion or mental health difficulties, MumsAid has recently started offering a fee-based service, to enable us to provide much-needed support for those who cannot afford to pay. We have been recognised by Public Health England as an example of 'Best Practice' in Perinatal Mental Health, and have launched a low-cost Couples Counselling service to complement our services as well.  For any information on our services, please contact our Blackheath Office on 07758 763 908 or [email protected]

  1. I had free counseling at a children’s centre with a crèche provided, which helped me recover after a traumatic birth and a bereavement.

They were very supportive and caring, clearly experts in dealing with pregnant women and new mums and the range of mental health issues they experience. They were passionate about supporting mums at this critical time and making counseling accessible to them. I found them infinitely better than the general NHS time to talk service.
