Our ‘Digital Mum’, Gretta, Wins “Best Social Media Campaign” at WIM Awards 2016

We love getting press releases like the one below!

Gretta Schifano FROM MUMS DO TRAVEL was our Digital Mum trainee earlier this year and helped us run our brilliant #parentinglikeitis campaign which raised £1000 for Bliss.

She was an amazing asset to our team and did a great job in raising our social media profile and multiplying our traffic by many, many times over.

We’re very proud of you Gretta and send you huge congratulations.

HUGE thank you to everyone who voted for us #teamginfund.

Gretta Schifano, 50, a mum of two from Oxted, Surrey has won this year’s inaugural Digital Mums Best Social Media Campaign category at the Women in Marketing Awards 2016. Sponsored by M&C Saatchi, this new award celebrates a Digital Mum graduate who has delivered a winning social media campaign.  Gretta’s campaign for London-based parenting network and social enterprise, Mummy’s Gin Fund, was hand-picked by the public from a shortlist of five, with the results revealed at an exclusive ceremony held at the Ham Yard Hotel, London Soho, last night.

Over 1,600 people took part in the public vote, with Gretta securing over a third (36%) of all votes. Applications were open to all graduates of Digital Mums, which up-skills mums with in-demand digital skills and helps connect them to businesses looking for freelance social media managers and strategists. The shortlist was whittled down from a host of entries by a panel of judges from the WIM and Digital Mums teams. The five finalists were then put to the vote through social media to allow the public to decide the winning campaign.

Nikki Cochrane, co-founder of Digital Mums, said: “We’re a bit overwhelmed that so many people took the time to vote for our inaugural award and our amazingly talented mums. We’re delighted to see Gretta named the winner. She was an amazing student and really put her heart and soul into her campaign. We hope that by shining a spotlight on all five of our finalists’ campaigns and the awesome work our graduates are doing, more businesses will realise the potential out there if they opened up to a more flexible way of working.”

Gretta Schifano, commented: “I can’t quite believe I’ve won! I started the Digital Mums course to broaden my digital skills knowledge having had children and starting work as a freelance journalist and blogger to find a way around the childcare juggle.  I’m now training businesses and individuals in Oxted and London and have a winning campaign to boot. To all mums out there struggling with the work-life balance or a lack of confidence in your work skills, I’m proof that there is #WorkThatWorks out there for everyone.”
Gretta’s winning campaign was a fundraiser for Bliss, a charity which supports premature and sick babies and their families. Her client, Mummy’s Gin Fund, a London-based parenting network and social enterprise, wanted to raise overall awareness of their brand. Gretta asked people to share stories and photos of their non-perfect parenting experiences on Twitter with the hashtag #ParentingLikeItIs and on the Mummy’s Gin Fund Facebook page. A sponsor, South East Builders & Decorators, donated £1 to Bliss for every tweet and retweet, and for every story or photo shared. The campaign successfully achieved its objective and raised £1,000 for Bliss in the process.
The WIM Awards were launched by Ade Onilude in 2010 to celebrate the excellence in marketing by women in the UK. Brand guru, Daryl Fielding hosted this year’s awards ceremony, which recognised a total of 11 awards on the night. The Digital Mums award was a collaboration between Women in Marketing and Digital Mums.
