Danson Park is amazing, loads of green space, an incredible playground, a lake, a peace garden – acres of fun for all the family. There is almost always an event going on in the Park, a funfair, circus, open air cinema or the annual Donkey Derby. Try boating on the lake, or simply enjoying the lush green parkland and woods in the park. Danson House often has exhibitions most recently a Vivienne Westwood Design exhibition.
MUMMY’S GIN FUND SAYS:
Acres of fun for all the family. A gem in South East London which has something for everyone. Worth a visit for the stroll around the lake alone, and the kid’s playground is awesome. MGF recommended!
Every summer they host ‘Spark in the Park’ – a free event with lots of inflatables, singing, dancing, arts and crafts and lots more for children.
Address: Danson Park, Welling.
Playground: An awesome large playground. Large range of swings and includes a wet play splash area, zip wire, large rope climbing frame, and refreshment kiosk. Suitable for ages three – 14. This is a dog free area and handily there is a family friendly pub next door called Danson Stables.
Cafe: There are two kiosks on site, one in the children’s playground, and one by the boating lake. There is also a café open at Danson House serving high teas on the lawn. If your tastes are more Pimms than tea then Danson Stables serves a wide variety of food and drinks with a large outdoor beer garden. All options good value for money. There is a fancier restaurant called the Boathouse but I have never tried it. Looks good though!
Toilets: Located by the children’s playground, has babychange facilities and has always been clean when I have visiting.
Pram / wheelchair / mobility friendly: Yes, this park is easy accessible for prams, buggies, wheelchairs.
Parking: the park can also be reached by car from the A2 via A221 or A207. Limited car parking is available on site, a charge of £2 is levied at weekends and bank holidays from April – September.
Train: The nearest railway station is Welling Station, Station Approach, Welling, DA16 3AU.
Bus: 96, 89, 422, and B1.
Phone: 020 8303 7777 (Bexley Council).
